ICC Wembley Mathematics
ICC Mathematics is not designed to follow any school curricula, but it will prepare them for their GCSEs. Regular sessions over time will equip your child with all the tools they need to excel academically in mathematics. The tutoring will not follow a school curriculum, but rather complement their maths GCSE. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. ICC Mathematics is a tutoring programme with each student receiving regular support from the tutor, videos and worksheets. The carefully developed worksheets allow students to practice questions throughout the week, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary.
Students can start ICC Mathematics from year 9 to Year 11. ICC Mathematics helps children of any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, ICC Mathematics will be ready to help you achieve your goal. Homework is set for students because completing an appropriate amount of work on a regular basis is simply more effective than longer study sessions with extended breaks – they will learn more efficiently and make faster progress as they apply what they have learned in sessions throughout the week. This routine also encourages effective study habits and a positive attitude to study. This will mean students will receive homework to support learning within sessions.
The tutoring will be based on student test scores which will determine their current ability and not on their age or school performance, although we believe that every child has unlimited potential and can ultimately tackle advanced work through well-paced sessions. We will have children of different ages studying different material dependent on student need. Classes will be designed according to ability and test results. Students will initially take an entrance exam and be placed in 1 out of 4 classes. The class will focus on particular levels of mathematics throughout the year. Students will be tested termly and have an end of year assessment which will determine their new class for the following academic year. (Please note their attendance, attitude towards learning and homework completion will also play a factor when determining their class change).
Weekly tutoring sessions will last 2 hours, students will be required to complete all homework set by the teacher and to watch videos for further assistance at home. This will all depend on the tutoring scheme of work and class ability. You can keep track of students’ progress by speaking to the tutor and keeping track of the termly exam results. This will be a good indicator if a student is working hard and reaching a key milestone.
During the session the child will have access to a computer which will allow them to access online material. Worksheets will be printed and have access to mark schemes. At the end of the session, the tutor will have 5-10 minutes to address any questions you may have. The sessions will be 2 hours with a 10-minute break for prayer dependent on the timing of the session and mosque prayer times.
The sessions will be held by an experienced and qualified mathematics teacher. The teacher has taken various roles within his career such as leading a department, establishing best mathematics results within schools and being a consultant in mathematics. Qualified as a teacher at University College London ranked number 1 in the world and studied mathematics at a Russell Group university.
